Santa Rosa Medical Center Earns National Reaccreditations for Bariatric Surgery and Sleep Disorder Centers
6/29/2023
MILTON, Fla., (June 29, 2023) - Santa Rosa Medical Center (SRMC) has earned reaccreditation status for its bariatric weight loss surgery program and its sleep disorder center.
SRMC’s bariatric surgery center continues to be an accredited Comprehensive Center by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP®), a joint Quality Program of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). This extends the MBSAQIP accreditation status through March 2026. SRMC has been accredited by the organization since March 2019.
The Santa Rosa Sleep Disorder Center also remains accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) through July 2028. The sleep program was first accredited in 2010.
"We are thrilled to have once again achieved reaccreditation status from the MBSAQIP and the AASM. These achievements highlight our unwavering commitment to providing exceptional care and upholding the highest standards in bariatric surgery and sleep medicine,” announced hospital Chief Executive Officer, Justin Serrano. ““We understand the significance of these accreditations and they reinforce our dedication to helping people get well and live healthier."
To earn MBSAQIP Accreditation, SRMC had to meet essential criteria for staffing, training, facility infrastructure and patient care pathways, ensuring its ability to support patients with weight disorders. SRMC also participates in a national data registry that yields semiannual reports on the quality of its surgical outcomes and identifies opportunities for quality improvement.
SRMC’s Bariatric Weightloss Center is directed by Ricardo Mohammed, D.O., a board-certified general surgeon who is also fellowship-trained in bariatric surgery. He sees patients at his office in Milton and Navarre.
To receive and maintain accreditation from AASM for five years, a sleep center must meet or exceed all standards for professional health care as designated by the AASM.
Santa Rosa Sleep Disorder Center is directed by Bobby Simpson, D.O., a board-certified pulmonologist, and is located at 5992 Berryhill Road in Milton.
