Laboratory Services
Medical tests can provide a great deal of important information using bodily specimens, including blood, urine and stool samples. Whether you need a lab test for an annual physical, to discover if you’re pregnant, or to seek answers for specific symptoms or potential health problems, the laboratory services at Santa Rosa Medical Center offer convenient testing with both before-work and after-work hours – no appointment necessary.
Physicians’ orders are required for all tests. Santa Rosa Medical Center will also accept out-of-state orders. If your doctor is out of state, please be sure to provide a fax and telephone number so the lab can get the results to your doctor in a timely manner.

How to Fast for Your Test
Some lab tests may require you to fast. This means no food or drink for at least eight hours prior to your test. Your physician will tell you if you need to fast for a particular test. While water is usually acceptable, you should not eat anything (even toast or gum) or drink any beverage (even black coffee) before the test. Your doctor will let you know if/how you should take any medications – this includes prescription medications, vitamins and over-the-counter medications. Please consult with your doctor about fasting before the test has been ordered.
Receiving Your Results
We understand that patients want to receive lab results as quickly as possible. Please understand that your doctor needs time to review the results provided to him or her. If you have not received your results, contact your doctor’s office. The laboratory staff at Santa Rosa Medical Center cannot provide results directly to a patient. Results must be provided through your physician’s office.
