When should you seek treatment for joint pain?
It can be difficult to know when to see a doctor if you’re experiencing pain in your knee, hip, shoulder, ankle or foot. If the pain is impacting your life it may be time to see an orthopedic specialist.
Recent Injury
We recommend you make an appointment if your joint pain was caused by forceful impact, a twist or hyperextension and you are experiencing symptoms such as:
- Significant swelling
- Redness or discoloration
- Tenderness or warmth around the joint
Seek emergency treatment if your joint appears deformed, you can’t bend it without extreme pain, you heard a popping noise at the time of injury, or have sudden swelling.
Chronic Pain
Sometimes joint pain doesn’t go away and keeps you from doing the things you want to do. If you’re tired of living with a sore, aching and stiff shoulder, knee, hip or ankle it may be time to visit an orthopedic specialist. The orthopedic team can help you find pain relief.
Take our joint pain assessment to help determine if you need treatment.
