Santa Rosa Medical Center is Vital to our Community
3/28/2024
Last year, our Santa Rosa Medical Center team played a vital role at more than 278,000 patient encounters where we helped people get well and live healthier. Around the clock, every day of the year, regardless of holidays, weather or other disruptions – we are here for our community. The skills, talents and energy of our employees and physicians are the force powering all that we do and I am grateful for their steady focus on delivering safe, quality and compassionate care for patients.
We care deeply about all the patients we serve. Last year, we provided more than $74.4 million in charity and uncompensated care for the community’s most vulnerable.
The needs in our community are many and we are proud to support the work of organizations such as Santa Rosa Kid's House, FoodRaising Friends and the United Way of West Florida as they address social determinants of health. Our first Jars of Love drive in 2023 collected more than 450 jars of peanut and other nut butters for Feeding the Gulf Coast and this year’s drive is underway with a goal to collect even more.
Santa Rosa Medical Center continues to evolve to meet the needs of our community and we are applying our resources toward the services, facilities and technologies that are important to our patients. This includes work to strengthen our cardiac, stroke and emergency care services. In 2023, we achieved Level 1 Adult Cardiovascular Service licensure, demonstrating our teams’ ability to offer life-saving, minimally invasive heart care when needed most. Our clinical teams’ commitment to providing high quality stroke care was also recognized by The Joint Commission when we achieved Primary Stroke Center certification in the summer of 2023.
Access to services has been enhanced with the opening of new clinic locations in both Milton and Pace. We also expanded our reach with the recruitment of seven allied health professionals and two additional OB/GYN providers so that more families are able to grow and thrive within our community. Capital improvements totaling more than $3.7 million were made within our organization to expand core services, upgrade equipment, and to enhance our patients’ overall experience.
Our impact extends beyond the campus, including the more than $3.9 million in taxes paid which support critical infrastructure such as first responders, schools and roads. Payroll of more than $55 million ripples through the local economy as team members buy goods and services which help sustain the financial health of our community.
Santa Rosa Medical Center remains an essential piece of our growing county and we are only able to perform our critical mission through the commitment and passion of every member of our team. We are honored to serve and extremely proud of our hospital’s $145.8 million community impact in 2023.
Justin Serrano is the CEO of Santa Rosa Medical Center.
