Santa Rosa Medical Center Nurse Receives National Award for Nursing Excellence
3/28/2024
Jeanne Penton-Molina, a registered nurse at Santa Rosa Medical Center (SRMC) for more than two decades, has received a national 2023 Nursing Excellence Award.
Penton-Molina is one of ten national winners selected across all hospitals affiliated with Community Health Systems, one of the leading operators of general acute-care hospitals and outpatient care centers in communities across the United States. The organization’s affiliates include Santa Rosa Medical Center and 70 other hospitals in 15 states.
Penton-Molina was surprised with the recognition by hospital leadership and fellow nursing team members where she was presented with a crystal plaque and heard remarks from hospital leaders and colleagues.
“Jeanne is dedicated to providing professional nursing care. She uses a practical approach in her delivery and relies on evidence-based care decisions to support patient outcomes,” said SRMC’s chief nursing officer, Stephanie Jones. “Her efforts have led to lives being saved. She truly lives Nursing Excellence.”
The Nursing Excellence Award was created to honor the critical role nurses have played in treating patients to help them get well and live healthier lives. The peer-nominated award program was open to qualifying RNs and LPNs working in a direct patient care position who consistently demonstrate characteristics synonymous with nursing excellence. These characteristics include outstanding care, compassion, service and innovation, and reflect the efforts of someone who is a demonstrated team player and/or mentor to others, is a leader in times of crises, and who regularly promotes health in the community.
“She has always provided direct support to the entire hospital, addressing issues as they arise and being a committed and valued team member in our organization,” shared Justin Serrano, chief executive officer.
Penton-Molina joined Santa Rosa Medical Center in December 1998 as a house supervisor and remained in that role for the last 25 years. During this time, she has cared for many patients in other healthcare settings. Before starting her career at SRMC, Penton-Molina served as the private duty Royal Nurse to King Fahd in Saudi Arabia for many years.
In addition to receiving the Nursing Excellence Award itself, Penton-Molina received a cash award and a gift box to recognize and express gratitude for extraordinary nursing.
